Here he is at flight training somewhere in Oklahoma, mid-late '50s.
The other storyline for today is injuries:
I COULD NOT believe it when David Bote blew out a shoulder trying to scramble back to 2nd after oversliding on the same play that Eric Sogard collides with Alex Blandino, a shortstop playing first base, and THEN to get an alert saying that Trevor Williams underwent an emergency appendectomy and will be out indefinitely.
These injuries are not like anything I remember experiencing before ESPECIALLY when the damn Padres are actually good and in town.
If you were to look right now, the guy pitching for the Cubs today is named "Undecided".
And of course I forgot to put Alec Mills' name on the illustration, the guy who would be the logical choice to start today except he's on the IL too.
It's astonishing, this list of injuries to key guys.
Well, we'll just have to see what happens.
Yesterday the Pads lost 4-7 to the Astros and Zack Greinke's 8 innings of 6-hit ball.
They're 7-3 in their last 10 and sit atop the NL West, above the 2nd place Giants and 3rd place Dodgers.
They're kinda good.
Over the next 10 games, the Cubs will play the Pads 6 times and the Giants 4.
If they can win half I'll be ecstatic, and even a couple guys coming off that IL would be helpful.
Javy and Pederson damn near collided either yesterday or day before - Baseball Gods PLEASE stop with the injuries, okay?
Happy Memorial Day, everyone.
