You might remember this illustration from 2016.
You also might remember that this team has the capability of coming back from the dead, and dead seems like the case right now.
It's pure panic.
"My beer is warm!"
I'm trying to stay away from those people right now.
I'm just... not gonna freak out yet.
My mantra is still the Leonardo DiCaprio line from "Revenant": "I ain't afraid to die any more. I done it already."
Yeah the stats are horrible, especially this last month when you want to be getting super hot.
But this team hasn't reeeeally been on an extended period of hotness all year, and yet... they're still in first place.
And I still expect them to win the division.
Because they've gotten hot in little spurts here and there, and won a ton of one run games.
For fans to expect them to suddenly turn into another team just because it's the end of the season seems odd to me.
They turn hot and cold at the drop of a hat.
So... just hope that the hot happens more than the cold and they break out of this crappy batty streak.
As awful as the last two nights have been, the next two could be just the opposite.
I really do think about Anthony Rizzo alot.
His spirit is off the charts, can be viral, and more than any Cub I hope he starts bangin' the ball.
I don't know, maybe we're watching a slow motion car wreck.
But I'm going to Wrigley tonight, and I plan on not having any vocal chords tomorrow.
