Calling a home run to yourself is one thing.
Calling it in front of your friends at Wrigley is another, much cooler thing.
But calling a Kris Bryant home run on national tv?
That's Callin' a Homer Hall of Fame stuff, man.
I mean, surely Jim Deshaies has said someone's about to hit a homer on numerous occasions and nothing happened.
But who remembers that?
This was amazing.
He said something like, "KB hasn't hit a homer since coming off the DL. He's hinted at it..."
Then Len Kasper challenged him with, "Calling it?"
"Callng it. He's going deep right here..."
And then he did, and it was Cubs 5 Diamondbacks 0.
I sure hope Bryant's back for real, because for such a long time I have missed that swing resulting in an arcing baseball that goes out the park.
Kyle Hendricks was throwing dodgeballs all night long and had 'em shut out til A.J. Pollock wrecked it with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th.
But what a timely stud-like performance from Kyle as it was so nice to not see a parade of relievers come in for the Cubs.
And Javier Baez with his 32nd homer in this, his finest season so far, and he's only 25.
That all came after the Bears won on a play that actually made me think I was watching the Chicago Bears - an interception returned for a TD by Prince Amukamara.
Looked like Mike Brown.
I almost wept.
What a night! Gotta run. Go 1st Place Cubs!
PS: Now we should all tweet at Jim Deshaies and ask him to call for a raise, or a lotto win, or maybe just a free lunch.
Did this gif yesterday.
