Oh man, this victory was such a relief.
For whatever reason, I was dreading this series for like a month.
But last night turned out pretty good, huh?
Javier Baez hit his 34th homer, which ties him with Harper and Arenado for 2nd in the NL, 1 behind Matt Carpenter.
And he drove in 3, bringing his league-leading RBI total to 110.
Yeah, that's pretty good.
Jon Lester went 5 and gave up 3 runs (1 unearned, tho), and then Joe didn't mess around, bringing in Edwards/Chavez/Wilson and Cisheck.
It was Lester's 17th W which ties him with Max Scherzer for the NL lead.
Oh that's for sure pretty good.
And with the win, the Cubs got to 90 victories for the 4th season in a row.
They haven't done that since the Republic of China was founded and Woodrow Wilson elected.
They actually did it 9 seasons in a row, from 1904 - 1912.
Unfortunately but actually pretty great, I missed the whole game as we were at a friend's wedding.
Look at this pic and tell me that ain't pure happiness:
Anyway, so nice to get back to winning.
Let's see if they can pull off another this afternoon with Kyle Hendricks on. The. Mound.
