Well, this painting'll get done soon enough, but before that happens...
The Cubs comfortably smacked the Cardinals around yesterday.
My fav lasting mental image of the game coming from the replay of Adam Wainwright staring at Kris Bryant's 450 footer heading deep into the batter's eye.
Because Wainwright's expression told us that in his head, there was drama.
As if he couldn't tell if the ball might actually be caught by 6 foot tall center fielder Harrison Bader.
When in reality that ball couldn't have been caught by the Sears Tower.
Bryant's homer was just his 13th of the year, and even though that's horrible for the team, it's another reason to admire what the rest of the guys have done this season.
AND of course, you think - hey man... what if Bryant were to suddenly go on a tear?
Kyle Hendricks looked the most awesome kind of Hendricks-like.
8 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 0 expressions.
I have nothing but love and admiration for Kyle Hendricks.
Watching him is joy squared.
Anyway, Cubs 8 Cards 4.
Jose De La Rosa gave up 2 in the 9th, making the final score look as if the Cardinals had a chance.
They did not.
Okay, 12:05 game today.
Miles Mikolas, the guy on the mound when I went to St. Louis and saw the Cubs lose, is pitching for the Cards today.
Versus Cole Hamels.
There is a chance to clinch today.
Until then, I'll leave you with this:
