Well, it wasn't a Bote 2 0ut 2 strike walkoff slam in the bottom of the 9th, but seeing Jon Lester back in command is plain old more important.
Not to take away from Bote Joy, I'm just saying.
Lester's had pretty much nothin' but bad starts since the All Star break - gave up 23 runs in 4 of 5 starts.
And the last one was the worst with 10 hits and 9 runs in just 3.2 innings.
So it's SO FANTASTIC to see 6 innings with 5 hits and 8 strikeouts and zeeros for walks and runs.
May this be another start for him where he's more like the All Star starter he was the first half.
And Ian Happ.
Been a long time since that last homer, and this one was just plain gorgeous.
And as it turned out, the only run they needed.
Because the bullpen, and Pedro Strop.
In April if you'd have said Pedro would be closing games in August?
Nah not really.
I'm so impressed with that guy, even if Rizzo had to give him the stare for plunking David Freese.
Cubs one Pirates zero.
Okay, Yu Darvish.
Patrick Mooney says he's scheduled for a minor league start on Sunday.
The patience we've all displayed (okay, lots of fans haven't but whatever) will be rewarded.
As it stands now, the Cubs are the best team in the NL without him.
They just got Cole Hamels.
When I think of what this staff could turn into?
Eyes don't focus no more.
Like the first bite of a Blue Bunny mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich and nobody paid me to say that.
Plus, I'll keep saying there's a Drew Smyly possibility.
Keith Hernandez saying you gotta hit a batter because he's hot.
"He's killing the ball the last three games, he's hit three home runs," Hernandez said. "You gotta hit him."
Talking about Jose Urena beaning Ronald Acuna with a 97 MPH fastball.
I'm pretty old school, but Keith Hernandez... you're an idiot.
That's chickenshit ball.
That's all I got.
Except the Baez Tag.
It's about the coolest thing that can happen in a game.
