Yesterday was so surreal.
When I turned on AtBat, the score was already 1-5.
That's so not a big deal with this team.
But then it was 1-12.
In the 4th.
With Lester on the mound, that's just so not in the realm of possibility.
Someone put something in my coffee.
At Bat people were conspiring to freak me.
I left the office, turned the game on in my car.
People I hadn't heard from in years called me - what is happening they asked.
How can the Cubs be losing 1-15 to... to anybody?
Somewhere in there, I turned off the radio.
16 Cardinal runs?
I grab groceries, turn it back on.
The Cubs must have scored and now the bases are loaded and Pat says something about dreams.
Ryno WHERE ARE YOU?
Immediate double play.
Oh, that was real alright.
5 to 18.
This was so far beyond the I want to hurl point, I almost laughed.
To say today's double header will be a challenge understates.
If Chatwood can't throw strikes, maybe we'll actually see Rizzo pitching.
You can't throw in the entire bullpen with Montgomery on the mound tonight.
On the other hand, maybe Chatwood accidentally figured something out.
Anything can happen in these Cubs/Cards games, right?
Either way, it's Block Party over on my street.
That was about 7 this morning.
A ten pound Pork Shoulder.
Should be ready late afternoon, after the Cubs score 22.
