You've seen those foul balls go off Willson Contreras' knee haven't you?
I can't find any video, but a couple days ago, he had a couple fouls go off the same right knee in the same game!
He hopped around the field while we all held our breath and tried not to hurl.
And then he... stayed in the game.
That's one tough kid.
The Cubs, with another even more kid infested lineup than normal, beat the Reds 5-4 at Wrigley Field.
And if you want to pump up a pitcher's confidence, my advice is to not start him in a game vs. the Reds.
This Reds team was just a pitching staff away from being really good, and when they got to Jose Quintana today it didn't pump him up.
But you saw Maddon talking to him after, and he's really good at that so it's all gonna be just fine.
Ian Happ, another Cub with a swing you could marvel at all year long, was the big hero today.
(Unless you count Hector Rondon's first ever hit in the Bigs.)
With the Cubs down by 2 in the bottom of the 8th, he hit a 3 run homer to left and that was that.
Justin Grimm came in for the 9th and nothing caught fire around him.
W flags unfurl, everyone gets to sing "Go Cubs Go".
A gorgeous Friday for sure.
2 more vs these Reds and then it's on to the District of Columbia to play Dusty and the Nats.
I'm SO ready for this.
