Admit it, you couldn't believe when it happened either.
The Cubs had this game in the bag for 7 innings.
All things considered - game 7 of the World Series - it was pretty calm for the majority of this game.
I'd even say up.
The Cubs are going to win the World Series - it was so happening.
Then the Rajai Davis' homer and every stupid-bad Cub thing you ever lived through flooded your nerve endings.
I don't remember a thing about the 9th.
Rain delay made me furious because of course I thought it would go on for hours.
But then... we just revisited this with the Almora painting.
A Schwarber single, pinch run Almora, Kris Bryant fly to deep center, Almora to 2nd, intentional walk to Rizzo.
And then batting-lefty Ben Zobrist crackslaps a ball the other way right down the line literally inches out of Jose Ramirez' reach and poof.
Almora breaks the tie, Rizzo is standing on third, and Zobrist is on 2nd base screaming like a lion.
Then all the stupid-bad things went away again.
That was almost exactly 5 months ago.
The Cubs haven't won a World Series since November.
That "HAHA" was real - I just laughed out loud in a room all by myself like a crazy person.
That means Dan Shulman, Aaron Boone, Jessica Mendoza and Buster Olney instead of Len Kasper and Jim DeShaies, so give the Score a listen.
Maybe Pat and Ron'll line up to the pic good enough.
The painting is Jason Kipnis and Zobrist. Watercolor. The real painting is just the guys on white. I'm kinda messing with it digitally to see what I should really do to it.
