Despite the couple rain delays, yesterday's W over the Phils had soooo many awesome things happen.
The coolest of course was home run #100 for David Ross, a 410 footer off the Nuveen sign in the 4th.
Which came shortly after Jorge Soler smacked a monster dinger off the Jumbotron.
Which came a couple innings after Soler knocked in Ben Zobrist who's hitting streak is now at 13 games.
Then in the 5th, Kris Bryant said hey man, I wanna join the fun so he hit one out too.
And during this whole time, Jon Lester was... remember he only lasted 3 innings last time vs the Giants who slapped him around.
So... he's not happy with that and redeems himself with 6.1 innings of 1 run ball.
Okay 2 but one was unearned.
In the third, we saw a totally weird Dexter Fowler dropped ball followed up with Javier Baez going down on a knee to field the incoming bouncing toss and... the ball went through him, hit third base and skipped halfway home.
2 Es on 1 P as ex Card Peter Bourjos snuck all the way to third.
That play changed the scenery from 2 out and a guy on first to 1 out and guys on 2nd and 3rd.
Not a small mistake, but it's just the Phillies so whatever.
But back to the 100th homer.
He alternately huge-grinned and straight-faced going around the bases, then either high fived or "Cub Danced" with every guy in the dugout, all the way to the steps and out for a really awesome tip of the cap.
Stuff gives me goose-bumps.
Later in life, he gets to tell his grandkids he hit one hundred home runs in the Big Leagues.
While continuing to take care of the kids on this Cubs team.
Cubs 6 Phillies 2.
Still more rain to come, but hopefully it just stays rain and not angry storms.
Today it's Kyle Hendricks, who went toe to toe with Madison Bumgarner and lost 0-1 his last time out.
Father's Day is coming up.
My parents, years ago, gave me the COOLEST Father's Day gift of all time.
It's this metal tray (it says it's a "pizza tray" and you could use it for that, but it's also just the greatest all around BBQ tray).
It's the perfect pedestal to show your grill skills off on.
It even makes hot dogs look all gourmet-ey.
You can heat it up to keep stuff hot, or I've also used it to put a bunch of crushed ice and chilled seafood on.
I am not kidding, I have said thanks way more than once for this thing.
Anyway, you can get it at Cabela's if you're interested.
