If a Cub Fan were so inclined, he or she could have easily turned off the tv after the first half of inning number one, confident in a Cubs Victory.
But watching the Cardinals get pummeled by our favorite team is waaaaay too much fun, so I'm sure you watched every minute.
I actually caught the early part on the radio driving home.
Trust me... every bit as satisfying.
Plus, there was a surreal part of the broadcast that made my eyes bulge out the sockets I laughed so hard.
I can't quote it, but...
What Pat and Ronnie were trying to say was something about the recent mini slump and how losses are going to happen.
But coming from Pat Hughes who's been doing Cubs radio for ever, it was comedy gold.
(I'm making this up but you'll get the idea:)
PAT: Well.. with the Cubs recent mini slump...
RON: Joe Maddon said these things would happen.
PAT: Last year's first place team - the Cardinal - lost 62 games!
RON: Yeah, that's alot of losing.
PAT: Even first place teams lose a LOT of games.
RON: You can't win 'em all, folks.
PAT: If you're a Cub Fan you just.. have to get used to losing.
Anyway, the Cubs smeared the Cards 12-3 with 15 hits including a big one from starter Jason Hammell - when they batted around in the first.
Jorge Soler was taking walks and hitting homers, Fowler won't stop and Ben Zobrist is impossible...
Did you know they put WAR on the front page of ESPN stats?
I hadn't seen it before.
And I've sure NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE:
Okay, today Jake Arrieta is going to be pitching just as you're finishing a sandwich in the office.
Figure out a way to participate.
