The Cubs were up 2-1 over the Dodgers.
Bottom of the 6th, Jon Lester strikes out Adrian Gonzalez swinging, Justin Turner looking, and gets Scott Van Slyke to ground out.
The Dodgers' 3,4, and 5 hitters just went poof.
Lester looked masterful.
I figure he'll go 8, bring in Rondon and get out of this messy losing streak.
But in the 7th, it all went to hell in 4 at bats.
Single single double single.
Now it's 4-2, Lester gets relieved by Justin Grimm and now we're all the way back to Gonzalez who hits another single.
The game ends up 5-2, a most unsatisfying end to a Saturday night.
So now what?
Nay, I say.
Jake Arrieta is on the mound tonight, and not a minute too soon.
(Lucky for you, I almost made the headline today be "Don't DespArrieta".)
It's the ESPN Sunday Night Game, it comes on at 7 Chi-Time, and hopefully tonight we can go to sleep with big grins on our faces.
ps: Speaking of nightmares...
I hit a funny button in my car and the radio went to a station I normally don't listen to.
And this song came on:
Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds.
I bet I heard this song 10,000 times way back when, and now I CAN'T MAKE IT STOP.
It's in my head all the freaking time.
"If you do then I think that maybe I'll just lay me down, cry for a hundred yeeeeeaaaaarrrss."
I sing that out loud by accident.
We rode bikes to a breakfast place and it came outta my mouth on the sidewalk.
My wife is gonna kill me.
