What a mess.
I follow Ian Stewart on Twitter.
He tweets alot and seems like a nice guy and it's such a shame with the injuries but man, you just can't rant about the guys you work for and expect them to be all happy about it.
Those guys are a corporation.
The Cubs are big business.
Here's what Theo Epstein said: "...we are very happy with our production at third and Ian is working on trying to figure out Triple-A pitching."
Ouch.
Now Stewart's been suspended for 10 days, which is apparently a chunka change when you're making a couple mil.
And the Player's Union will fight it and, well Milton Bradley did his suspension but the Player's Union made sure he still got money so...
A mess.
Meanwhile, out in New York, Scott Feldman goes 7 innings of 2-hit ball AND knocks in two while Starlin Castro does the same and the Cubs beat the Mets 5-2.
Very nice.
Matt Garza on the mound today and um... the Cubs could sweep.
Weird.
And the Cubs almost did sweep. I guess I am ready to offically give up on Marmol as a closer. At least for this team.
I do not know what is in his head, but I think the only hope for him is with a change in environment. And that a slim hope at best. I still feel a little sorry for him.
Not that the Cubs have much hope of getting anything for him.
I read somewhere that someone thought, given how Stewart's tweets read, that maybe he was drunk. The story makes more sense to me that way.
Don't drink and tweet!
I like how the angry bird bounces off the undamaged logo. I think that is the correct viewpoint. I've seen several posts from people arguing that Stewart was going to poison the system. Yeah, Theo and company were just gong to twiddle their thumbs and let that happen.

Carlos Marmol.
No.
Not for the Cubs and I can't imagine for anyone else.
Weird about "poisoning the system"?
With what?

There's nothing left to figure out about Marmol. The hitters have figured him out. The umpires have figured him out. Cubs management has figured him out. The rest of the teams have figured him out.
And I'm afraid that Carlos has now figured himself out.
There's nothing left. Take the money that's left on the contract and invest it wisely.
It's over.

Nicely put.
It's shocking how far this guy fell.
Isn't it?
I thought the Cubs had a closer for years.
Yeesh.

I want to dump him like any other fed-up Cubs fan. But if traded, I predict he'll be our 21st Century Dennis Eckersley and become a killer closer for another team.

HAHAHAHAHA!
Surely that's written into the Great Cubs Script somewhere.
AND, the Cubs will probably pay most of his salary when that happens.
