The Cubs swept 3 from the first place Baltimore Orioles and knocked their lead over the Yankees from 9 games to 6.
That's kind of serious, if you're a Baltimore fan.
I'll say it again.
Nobody wants to play the Cubs right now.
A quick look at what the Cubs have done this August tells us why.
That's not just shocking to Cub Fans, but it's also better than a mess of the best in baseball.
The Brewers, Yanks, Angels and Dodgers only have 12.
Tied with our favorite team would be the Cardinals, the Indians, and...the Orioles.
Only the insanely hot Nats, Royals and Mariners have more than the Cubs' 13.
Yeah, it would be awesome if the Cubs got the number one pick in next year's draft, but since that's not gonna happen I'll say I hope they keep up this winning thing up all the way til the end of the season.
It's good for the kids, and even more importantly to me: it's the most summer fun I've had in years.
Tsuyoshi Wada had a nono going thru 6.
Against the team ranked #5 in OPS in all of baseball (the Cubs would be #25).
Arismendy Alcantara got a couple hits - one went out.
Matt Szczur and Wada got their first Big League hits.
Jake Arrieta, Kyle Hendricks, and Tsuyoshi Wada are doing impossible stuff.
The bullpen is incredible.
The Orioles came to Chicago on a roll and ran into... the spoilers.
Shoulda checked that freshness dating, because the Cubs spoiled on August 1st.
And there's still a week to go.
Reds next, then it's Labor Day weekend in St. Louis.
PLEASE let this winning thing keep on going...
