Kinda dumb doing this painting now, like we haven't basically been talking about Cubs baseball for the last hundred and six years.
Or since last October.
Today the Cubs will play their first ST game against the Diamondbacks.
2:05 Chicago time.
I feel like this is the spring where a buncha kids are going to meet in camp, decide to hang together for a long time and bring continued glory to our favorite city (or...at least our favorite city when it's warm out).
I loved Keith Moreland when he was a Cub.
I loved Doug Dascenzo and Mark Grace and Jody Davis and Shawon Dunston and Manny Trillo and Leon Durham and even Hector Villanueva.
They were Cubs, as in... not that great but pretty good and more than that they tried like hell and won my heart.
But times are changing, and pretty soon we're going to be liking guys for more than the fact that they try hard.
We're gonna like 'em because they might be some of the best in all of baseball.
That's a giant leap to make as a Cub fan.
It's actually weird, thinking like that.
But this spring, those guys in camp are the guys that might turn out to be the guys I'm talking about.
I'm totally getting a hot dog for lunch.
