Remember when Travis Wood hit that grand slam off Jake Peavy?
Watch this, it'll put you in a good mood:
That's so nice.
And it's so nice the Cubs and Wood avoided arbitration and agreed to another year at $3.9 mil.
If he keeps up his all around jock and all-star ways, they might go longer next time.
That trade with Cincinnati - basically Sean Marshall for Wood - I mean I'm sorry that Marshall's got the shoulder problems going on, but that was a nice piece of work by Theo and Jed.
Here's what Theo said at the time: "He's a really athletic package. Very athletic, his arm works very well. More than enough velocity to succeed as a left-handed pitcher."
Sure got that "athletic" part right, and Wood has been one of the highest of lights for us Cub Fans.
Guy can pitch, field and hit, he's got a great attitude too.
I hope he keeps it up.
Now Theo's got Jeff Samardzija, Darwin Barney and Justin Ruggiano to sign or do the arbitration thing which happens early next month.
They should make a game show out of arbitration.
Get a celeb arbitrator and some kind of Vanna White person, and have people win prizes based on who's closest to what the arbitrator awards.
