You probably read some about Mike Olt's allergies and the konk on the head combining to make his tear ducts malfunction, resulting in dry eyes and vision problems.
Not good for a hitter.
But I also think it was somewhere in that mess that the Texas Rangers decided Olt was no longer an untouchable prospect and the Cubs got him in the Matt Garza trade.
Olt had a terrible time at the plate last year. But finally he's got the eye thing under control and is ready to play.
Never in my life have I said these words before: the Cubs are stacked at third base.
On the big league team, probably this year and for sure next.
Because of Olt's eye thing, nobody was talking about him last year and now of course everybody (including me) loves to talk about Kris Bryant and dream about what might be coming... and if neither of those guys were here we'd all probably be at least semi-excited about Christian Villanueva.
But it seems that of all those guys, Olt was going to be "ready" before the eye thing happened.
So, you know, hoping that that can happen.
I'm impatient about a lot of things, but one of the biggies is some pop from third.
Won't that be nice?
Okay, out on a shoot.
My hotel has these beds that...see that corner?
With the metal thing?
It's at the exact same height as my shin.
My right shin, to be exact.
And last night about 3 with all the lights off, I woke up and walked into the bathroom.
And then walked back.
Almost a blackout with that kind of pain.
I'm still amazed no one called the police when they heard the man-scream.
