I read the St. Louis Post Dispatch this morning.
There's alotta angst going on down there.
Along with a touch of manager controversy, as Mike Metheny went and started Lance Lynn instead of young Shelbly Miller yesterday, and Lynn went and screwed the pooch giving up 5 runs in 4.1 (Miller was used in relief but he gave one up too).
Pirates 7 Cardinals 1.
That's not a good thing to happen when you're playing at home in a 5-game series.
Especailly since now the Cardinals have to travel to Pittsburgh and face Francisco Liriano.
Liriano's got the Cardinals safely in his front pocket, next to his keys and some spare change and other stuff he owns.
Look at his numbers v Cards highlighted in yellow below:
Liriano was a Twin most of his career, and this is the first year he faced the Cards since '09.
So he's kind of a mystery that'll grow into a big scary mind monster as it gets closer to game time (which is conveniently scheduled about a half hour after the Bears game, at 3:37 Central).
If the Cards don't figure him out, well then they're down 1 game to 2 with another one in Pittsburgh.
And if they lose that one, they'll make like a cardinal and fly on home.
And if THAT happens, we might hear some noise from St. Louis that sounds just like the noise we heard up here just before Dale Sveum got canned.
