You know, it's confusing being a Cub Fan this time of year.
At least the last couple years.
Was it awesome beating the Brewers on the strength of Junior Lake's Grand Slam?
Was it also kind of a drag since the draft isn't supposed to be so good this year and we really really want the Cubs to have the highest pick they possibly can so it's also better if they lose?
The other thing about Lake was the bunt.
Which led to more runs and a heap of praise from Dale Sveum.
When a kid says he's thinking about the win and the team rather than his own stats, well that's the kinda stuff you and I remember for a long time.
We want guys like that.
I think that kind of behavior has to have an entire chapter in The Cubs Way.
You know I've been half way about Junior Lake - he had the awesome start but I didn't really believe it but he's still only 23 so maybe he's not as good as his start but if he can make adjustments well... I could become a big fan in about 5 minutes.
The attitude is certainly mature.
And The Cubs Way is winning like crazy in the minors, too.
Boise shut out Vancouver 5 zip with Dillon Maples going 6.1 innings.
Here's the story.
Tennessee is in the Southern League playoffs, which is awesome getting there, but they dropped their first two to Birmingham.
And Daytona got rained out last night but they're up 1 game to nothin' against the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
If you were going tonight, you'd find that it's $1 beer and soda night.
So, go all you Cub teams.
Okay... except the one in Chicago.
No wait, I HATE THE BREWERS.
