You know, it's great when somebody unexpected like a Donnie Murphy picks up the team.
But right now, it's SO much cooler when a guy you're truly depending on for the future does it.
And Starlin Castro has been in almost a season-long funk, you know?
Rusin is pitching, and he's been fantastic but what he doesn't need is complications.
Something weird was going on yesterday with the bobbles and bad throws and errors, and Anthony Rizzo had a couple rotten plays almost back to back, one of 'em results in Chase Utley being safe at first when Rizzo drops the ball.
There were two outs, and now Rusin's got to keep throwing and throwing to get thru the inning.
Utley steals, Carlos Ruiz doubles, Utley scores, the next guy walks and finally Rusin gets the last out on a pop up.
Phils up 2-1.
Then tied 3 up in the 6th with the wind blowing in pretty good, Starlin Castro suh-MACKS one over the center field wall and deep into the green out there.
His first homer in a month, and for everybody who's been watching Castro struggle it was just such a fabulous treat.
Then he walked over to Anthony Rizzo and instead of a high five, Castro picked him up!
Didn't you see that?
If you missed it, it kinda looked like that drawing up top.
Cubs 4 Phillies 3.
