Of COURSE I keed.
When I heard about the root of Mike Olt's vision problem - that he got hit in the head resulting in a concussion and perhaps that's related to a now-faulty tear duct, well the joke was too dang easy.
But I totally imagine Mike Olt is SO happy to potentially become part of what the Cubs potentially can become: perennial winners and legit World Series contenders in a city that will love whoever is on that team like the '85 Bears.
This trade of Matt Garza, you can read all about it everywhere (try MLBTR - this article is connected to tons) so I'm not gonna repeat it all, but to get Mike Olt, C.J. Edwards (video here), Justin Grimm and one or two PTBNLs is pretty freaking amazing for us Chicago guys.
Really worth the wait for this whole thing to happen.
I have noticed that there's a load of people who are mad about it, and for the life of me I cannot...it's like you'd have to be living under a rock if you don't understand what's going on with our favorite team and the Grand Plan by now.
Because this is nothin' but awesome.
In fact, this is exactly the kind of trade we might see the Cubs make a couple years from now, only the other way around.
Imagine Theo and Jed thinking hey, we need one more piece to get us to the promised land and a ton of talent in our system so...we can take the hit, lets make the trade.
And poof - let St. Louis sit and watch for a change.
Now, how about Junior Lake?
Here's what BP said about his arm: "Lake’s arm is a legit 80-grade cannon and is quite easily the best among prospects currently in the minor leagues. As an elite tool, Lake’s arm strength would be a weapon at any position on the diamond, including on the mound, where some scouts believe he may end up long term."
To me, a great arm is one of those tools that can produce plays you'll talk about forever.
The thing is can he hit in the Bigs?
Way too soon to answer, but man his he ever a good reason to watch the Cubs right now.
Last night he led off and went 4 for 5, hit one WAY out, and knocked in 3.
The Cubs smacked the DBacks out of first, winning 4-2.
It's also very cool that Starlin Castro is getting hot.
That game, the trade, and Ryan Braun as kind of a cherry on top really made July 22, 2013 pretty special.
