Well, the only thing I could think of to draw from last night's 1-6 Cub loss to the Cardinals was another one of my head exploding, so instead I took a look at the standings.
You know, to see if I could find a little joy.
And there it is!
The Race To the 2014 1st Round Draft Pick.
Sure you'll read about this maybe 20 times a year in Chicago, but nothin' much else going on...
The Miami Marlins are obviously going to win this race - I feel confident calling that one already.
I figured the Cubs to be right up there, and indeed they are.
In about a month, the trades will start happening and we'll see what kind of team the Cubs will field, but you can't help but think it'll get worse yet better for today's topic.
Did not really expect to see them in this race and...what ever happened to that Miami PED thing where Ryan Braun was gonna get popped again? Who knows, the Brew Crew could be a player as this season goes along.
And the Chicago White Sox.
Man, what a revolting season of pro ball in Chicago this year.
I hear they're gonna start selling off too, and Kenny Williams - what a study in self preservation as he somehow got promoted and left this crap team to unproven but everybody says talented Rick Hahn.
Oh well, for us guys it's rebuilding business as usual.
Nothing new about being 17 games out of first place before July, right?
Nothing new about thinking about next year's draft order about 5 minutes after this year's draft happened.
I still have all the patience in the world.
I see the I Hate The Astros are coming to town this weekend.
Do I even know anybody to hate on this team?
Either way, come Monday there may be a change in the bottom feeder order art above.
Stay tuned and... GO CUBS!
(ps: when I did this art last night, the Marlins hadn't won their game yet - they actually have 23 wins today!)
