Scott Baker had the Tommy John almost a year ago, and he's not on any sped up timetable for that kinda thing.
First time pitching, bam.
Ian Stewart, first time batting, bam.
He's been a wreck forever!
They both have MRIs on Tuesday, so...
Hopefully it's like Dale Sveum said, and Baker's just feeling the same pain any guy would who wasn't coming off Tommy John.
Stewart's another thing entirely.
After all he and the team has gone through to just see if the guy can play, I hope he finally gets a chance even if it's a month into the season (surely there are money/roster implications in that, but wouldn't it suck if they let him go and he heals and plays well for someone else?)
But the Cubs are not alone.
You see that Mark Teixeira has a partially torn tendon sheath (EWW!) in his wrist and he's maybe out til May? Or Roy Halladay's fastball's coming in about 87mph?
And our old buddy Terrible Ted Lilly has had health problems and been out twice this spring with illness. Not good when you're trying to come back from shoulder surgery and competing against 7 other pitchers representing about a couple billion in salary.
And what about me?
What about this crap weather I have to live in?
It was so awful today that without a pebble or rock or any kind of noise indicating something hit it, my windshield just cracked all by itself.
Because it was so freaking ugly out.
Darwin Barney really did go to Oregon State, and Jeff Samardzija to ND.
Scott Baker actually went to Oklahoma State.
Sorry about making a cartoon about the MRI, Scott.
I hope you're all good to go and make a giant contribution to the fun I plan on having this summer.
