4 of the last 5 times Javier Baez came up to bat, he hit it out of the park.
His second one yesterday apparently went out of town (you can see it here).
This guy has some serious talent which is also raw talent which means he's not going to Chicago but rather Daytona.
In fact, Daytona looks to be THE hotspot of the future of the Cubs.
From Arizona Phil over at TCR:
"Both Baez and Soler will be at Daytona, and Pierce Johnson, Juan Carlos Paniagua, Ben Wells, Dan Vogelbach and Reggie Golden could very well be there, too.
It looks like the Daytona Cubs will be the "crown jewel" affiliate, at least at the start of the season."

And while the opinions vary a ton on when Baez actually comes to Wrigley, over at BP they're saying it could happen as early as the second half of next year (along with the other widely held opinion that Baez will end up at 3rd next to Castro at short which would make one very exciting left side of the Cub infield).
Okay, so yesterday one Cub team (the one with Baez on WGN) beat Kansas City 8-3, while the other Cub team beat the Rangers 4-1 with Jeff Samardzija going shutout for 5 innings.
There's another split squad game going on today with half the Cubs in Las Vegas against Texas and the other in Phoenix vs Oakland.
That last one is on WGN at 3 Central, and you'll probably have a Baez sighting there.
Speaking of sightings, I told you about seeing Vera Farmiga at my hotel...
Well.
Then I saw Al Pacino (probably promoting that Phil Spector thing), Steve Buscemi, and outside on the sidewalk there was Eddie Vedder.
I so wish I would have been quick enough to say "Go Cubs" to him.
But you all know I learned my lesson not to talk to celebs with this Morgan Freeman story.
This is the elevator where that boobish-move happened.

Happy St. Pat's and Go Cubs.
