Man, I guess it's kind of a relief that the Blackhawks finally just plain got beat.
For the first time this season they got zero points, losing 2-6 to the Colorado Avalanche.
A whuppin'.
But to open the season with a 24 game point streak is impossible, which is why it's a record.
And as this thing went along you can imagine how each team looked forward to beating the Hawks.
The more they won, the worse the other guys wanted to beat them, so it had to have gotten harder with each game.

Not to mention, but am I crazy or did they schedule way more games per week than in a normal, non-strike year.
Exhausting.
Exhausting.
They're WAY out in front in the Western Conf, though.

Look at the Red Wings, back there with 28 points.
And the Blues in last.
Wa nana nana naaaaaaa naa.
They had a couple injuries along the way, but the other day Patrick Sharp got some kinda "upper body" thing they say will be 3-4 weeks til he's back.
That's a big deal.
But now they can re-group and moto ahead again.

I'm gonna tell you a secret, and you can't tell ANYBODY else.
Early in the morning, here's what happens on my drive into work.
I get off the Kennedy and come down Ohio to Clark.
It's almost always a greenie there and I turn south and it's always red at Grand.
But when the light turns green, the rest of the lights are timed to turn green as you move along all the way to Wacker.
So on a perfect day, I'll be in front at the Grand stoplight, and then never even touch the brake til I'm over the River.
IT'S THE MOST AWESOME THING IN THE WORLD!
I'm not kidding.
Most of the time when I see a greenie in the distance and I'm afraid it's gonna turn red I do that Mars Blackmon thing from "She's gotta have it" over and over: PLEASE BABY PLEASE BABY BABY PLEASE!
Works about half the time.
But on this stretch of road, I do nothin' but go "YES!" over and over again.
And if I'm REALLY lucky, the guys in the other lanes will see the red in the distance and slow down, while I with my special knowledge just keep on movin', because I know it's gonna turn for me.
And then the rest of the day goes to hell, but so what?
THAT part was fabulous.
In Cub news, Ian Stewart is still out and Sveum says he better be red freaking hot when he comes back or he won't make the team, Garza is still nursing his lat, Baker is on schedule, and Anthony Rizzo hit a 2-run double in the 9th to help Team Italia beat Mexico in game one. And yesterday Italy beat Canada 14-4, so they're 2-0 and I guess were the underdog in that "D" pool. Kinda cool. They play Team USA tonight and it's on MLB network at 8pm Central. IF Italy moves on to the next round, Rizzo won't be with the Cubs for another week.
Lastly, it's production time so of course I'm way busy and apologize for being behind.
Remember how I said once in awhile we get to stay at really nice hotels?
That's happening right now, and when I walked through the lobby yesterday...there was Vera Farmiga.
Remember her in "Up in the Air"?
Must be promoting that creepy looking new "Bates Motel" show.
It's by the guys who did "Lost" and the idea is amazing.
I might really like this:

Anyway, I did remember my Cubs hat this trip so if I run into her when I'm grabbing the free coffee early in the morning, at least I won't embarrass myself with really hideous hair.
