When I looked back at the stuff done here regarding Tony Camapana, I was kind of shocked to see how much I devoted to him in such a relatively small time.
Because of his crazy legs.
Now, he's not technically gone, he's just been designated for assignment.
The Cubs could trade him, but it seems more likely he'll be put on waivers and somebody picks him up (rather than nobody picking him up and him landing back in Iowa).
This sounds odd, sort of, but it seems he needs to either go to a worse team than the Cubs and actually play, or go to a contender and be a late-inning speed freak.
He's just the wrong fit at the wrong time for the Cubs, and he falls in that category of guys we love because he just doesn't have all the tools and yet somehow still gets on the field and amazes us.
Some day, we're going to have guys we love because they have ALL the tools and amaze us..
Anyway, here's the art.
I think this was the first Campana illustration.
This was from that insanely cool, impossible slide where he ended up impossibly safe, which was insanely cool.
From a story about how Campana on the bases forced hurried throws and general panic.
This one was from when he hit that inside the parker, and the idea is that this gif plays at the actual speed of Campana going around the bases.
It made sense, sort of, in the original post.
If I don't see you again Tony, figure out how to get on base more and go thrill people!
