Hey ya know what today is huh do ya do ya huh?
Cubs are flying to Mesa from around the world to go play a little catch.
Edwin Jackson is saying howdy to Wellington Castillo.
Non-roster invitee Zach Putnam is thinking, "Holy CRAP! It's Jeff Samardzija eating a sandwich!"
And you and me are going, "yaHOOOO LET WINTER KISS MY NUDIE BACKSIDE 'CAUSE IT'S ALL GONNA GET BETTER SOON."
Tomorrow we can say, "Home opener is in 60 days!"
What?
Okay so we're still miles away, but this is still better than a shard from a shattered maple bat sticking out of your chest, isn't it?
I have the highest of hopes for Mr. Samardzija, don't you?
What if he keeps getting better?
God.
They say Matt Garza is gonna be gone if he proves he's healthy, and since he is kind of a cool guy I hope he goes somewhere good and Theo gets some stud pups in return.
Looking forward to the new guys - Jackson and the Scotts (Baker and Feldman, although one is still rehabbing but supposedly ready soon).
The new closer-to-be, at least we all think, Kyuji Fujikawa.
And who knows, maybe there's a kid who just says hey man, I wanna play in the Bigs like now.
And then proceeds to do it.
I hope you're as happy as I am.
Just...don't think too hard.
Now, out loud, say "Hi, baseball."
You smiled!
I know you did.
Last things - amazing Mark Prior article (get a hanky) and here's a story from Chris Jaffe at the Hardball Times mostly about a Cubs vs Expos game back when Andre Dawson was on the wrong team. Awesome read.
