Are you guys nervous about Twitter and athletes?
Especially... Cubs?
Not that the actual players are guilty of anything, but the debacle with Ryan Dempster and now Carlos Marmol and potential trades going wonky with Twitter in the middle there somewhere has me a little scared.
So when I read a story about the Cubs wanting to sign Jeff Samardzija long term, I've naturally gone a little skittish until it happens.
Because it's the Cubs.
Here's Jed Hoyer's quote from a Wittenmyer story a couple days ago:
I’m not going to comment on it, but [Samardzija has] had a great year, and certainly he’s a guy we hope is in a Cubs uniform for a long time,’’ general manager Jed Hoyer said during the general managers meetings.

Why oh WHY did he have to say, "I'm not going to comment on it"?

Because now I'm certain that the same twits who tweeted that trades were transpiring but were off target, making our twin trademakers (Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer) look like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb, will again twist with "tweets" that turn out to be "twits".

What can go wrong when offering Samardzija a long-term deal you ask?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I hope.
But I'll be checking Twitter to make sure.

And don't look now college football fans, but the mighty Northern Arizona Lumberjacks are stomping their way through the Big Sky Conference.
They opened the season against Arizona State and lost about a hundred to nothin', but haven't lost a game since.
I think it's their longest winning streak ever.
They play their games in what was the world's largest wooden domed structure, the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
Awesome name.
