With the Astros moving to the AL, does that mean the Cubs are in last?

I know.

It's gonna get better for the Cubs...

I just put this one up from '06 because it's painfully funny (on a personal note), and because I'm working all day Sunday.
The Oakland A's lost to Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers.
Not unexpected, but I'd love to see those A Kids win that one.
And Angel Pagan's awkwardly timed, non-awarded time out that (I think) exacerbated Red's pitcher Johnny Cueto's back spasms - I thought disaster would strike the Reds, and it did, they just had the better bats against the Giants last night.
Cueto threw what? 8 pitches?
He'll be back soon so Giants, get it together man.

Turner Field has the biggest infield EVER.

This is an actual screen grab from the Cardinals v Braves wildcard playoff game.
I mean, I can totally see why the ump thought it was an infield fly.
That ball was coming down right on top of Cardinal shortstop Pete Kozma's head, and clearly still WAY in the infield.
I guess the ump raised his hand a little late, which got alot of people pretty mad judging from the amount of crap they threw onto the field.

Okay, just kidding.
What a godAWFUL call.
What is it with the guys in charge of impartial judgement making horrible calls everywhere?
The Green Bay call a couple weeks ago comes to mind.
Okay, actually that was an AWESOME call from a simple caveman who mistakenly found himself in the middle of a professional football game on television with millions of people watching, but there is kind of a similarity there, right?
Just...bad.
And besides the actual bad call, here's what else is similar: the team that got hosed made HORRIBLE mistakes too.
The Packer's db shoulda smacked the ball to the ground rather than try to intercept.
Your Pee Wee league coach will tell you that.

The Braves gave this game away with their horrible fielding. 

But how the Cardinals keep on winning these things is the real crime.
After the last out, did you see them run off the field like kids that just accidentally busted somebody's front window?
They're CRIMINALS.
I am putting all my faith in the Washington Nats to properly police this situation.

Lastly, my buddy Oif.
Today I say, "I hated this wildcard stuff when it first came out, but now I'm kind of excited about it."
Oif is as die hard a Cub fan as you'll ever meet, and his long memory and feeling of Cub insecurity is worn on his sleeve like a loud cufflink.
1969 is still playing right before his eyes.
So anyway, in response to my admission above, he says, "I don't like it. Imagine the Cubs winning 104 games and STILL coming in second in the Central. That would be just like the Cubs, right? Their best record in a million years. And they have to play a one game series. And at the end of the first they're down by 5. I'd kill myself."

I fell out of my chair, laughing.

Miguel Cabrera joins Carl Yastrzemski and Frank Robinson. Wow.

When somebody joins a club with such legendary names I gotta stop for a minute to appreciate it.
At the end of this 2012 season, Miguel Cabrera led the American League in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in.
That's way more Halley's Comet than a Blue Moon.
The last time we saw a Triple Crown was 21 years after the Cubs last World Series loss 45 years ago.
I grew up, got married, had kids and put 'em in college in the time it took for the Triple Crown to show up again.

Hats off to Miguel Cabrera, 2012 Triple Crown winner.
Astonishing.

On a completely unrelated note, a "neutral" national pub put up a story about a game with a headline that featured the losers.
From ESPN:

The Cubs are so awful that a team with a worse record gets the headline in the Cubs last win of the season.

Okay gotta work now.

Well that's it, the last "I HATE THE ASTROS PAGE".
Until interleague play, at least.
So much happened last night and I'm slammed so I can't really dive very deep, but...

The Cubs lose game number one hundred, duh.
The White Sox are officially done and the Tigers will represent the AL Central.
(Did you notice how grown up I was about that whole collapse?)
And although I was at work, I did get to see the end of an absolute Bear annhialation of the Dallas Cowboys, and MAN if I'm a Cowboy fan I am freaking out about Tony Romo.
Deer in headlights, that guy.
Awesome D - the Lance Briggs interception was as gorgeous a play as we'll see in years.
He just grabbed the ball and the game and had his way with it.
Driving in this morning, I already heard the word "Superbowl" about 20 times.
I mean, I'm pretty excited, but come on man.

Finally, the illustration is of course a nod to a book I read ohhhhhhh about 900 times when the kids were little.
"Goodnight Moon".
A truly fabulous and essential book for any parent.

Goodnight Astros.
Good riddance too.
