Just trying to find any kind of joy in these playoffs.
Maybe the Cardinals doing so well has our old friend Tony LaRussa at least conflicted...
That game last night was so unwatchable.

Anyway, slammed.
Can't talk today.
Please Giants make it stop. 

Matt Holliday's karma error opens floodgates for the Giants.

I'm sure that today much will be made of Matt Holliday's high, late slide into Giants' Marco Scutaro.
Was it dirty?
Maybe.
But I know for sure that what goes around comes around, and Holliday's error in the 4th truly came around in the form of Angel Pagan scoring the 3rd run on a bases loaded single by Scutero.

Before that play the Giants were up 2-1.

After, it was 5-1, Chris Carpenter was done and so were the Cards.
Nice.
And I was reminded of other Holliday Treats from playoff games in the past.
Remember when, playing for the Rockies vs the Red Sox in the '07 WS, he got picked off first by Jonathan Papelbon?

Or as a Cardinal, vs. the Dodgers in the '09 playoffs, when his 9th inning dropped ball allowed the Dodgers to come back to win 3-2 and go on to knock the Cards out?
It was that James Loney liner that confused the outfielder into thinking he was a goalie...

Anyway, the Giants cream the Cards 7-1 to tie the series which will continue on Wednesday night in St. Louis. 
Long way to go, but at the end it might be nice to look back on Holliday's slide as not just a hard play intended to inspire the Cardinals, but rather the karma slide that inspired the Giants.

Things like blown out knees and broken ankles make me do that overall body shiver thing.
The not-cartoony version of Curly going "Nyuk nyuk nyuk".
Because it's not funny, ever. 
And when Derek Jeter went down with a busted ankle, it wasn't funny either.
Of all the Yankees to go down, why that guy?
He's like the only one worth liking.
Anyway, that's a severe blow to the Yanks.
The only good that could possibly come from Detroit winning the ALCS would be seeing Jose Valverde continue his death spiral into free agency as a giant loser with Scott Boras putting some kind of hilarious spin on the whole thing while trying to get another multi-year mega deal.

Couple cool things to watch tonight - the Packers vs the Texans and the Giants vs the Cardinals.
I wonder if there's some kind of special Chicago Fan bet you can make in Las Vegas for this evening?
'Cause I'd sure like to put some money on Houston and San Francisco.

You know I'm out in NY working.
Up early work late it's later here than anywhere else...yada yada yada.
So I fell asleep.
Comfortably.
The Cardinals were down by too big a margin.
NOBODY recovers from being down six to nothin in the deciding game of an NLDS.
Which is how far down the Cards were after the 3rd.
Impossible.
Yeah, they scored the 3 runs but still, I reached for the remote and hit off.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I woke up this morning to find a text from Dickie the Cardinal fan.
It said, "Anurism.. .... .."
Okay so he doesn't have spell check, but um... was that supposed to be him with the aneurysm?
Or me?

So you know the rest of the story.
It's the same nightmare year after freaking year.
Come on Giants.
Make it stop.

Kinda mean.
Oh well, the guy IS making a bazillion dollars to play baseball.
Alex Rodriguez got benched today by Joe Girardi and will be replaced in the line-up by Eric Chavez.
Ouch.
