No way.
The Cubs had a bat-happy game with 14 hits and an incredible ELEVEN walks and come from 2 down in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Brewers 12-11.
How could you even guess that might happen?
It was at home, it was against the Brewers, I SO COULD HAVE GONE.
Except I was on a plane, unaware, reading.
Or trying to.
The guy next to me began snoring before the plane took off.
He slept through the drinks cart.
He slept through the snacks cart.
Snoring snoring snoring.
Then he woke up and ordered two vodka tonics and immediately went right back to snoring.
Only for the second half, he was quiet for about 5 minutes, and then a snore would literally EXPLODE from him and last for a couple minutes, and then back to quiet.
An attendant shook him awake.
"Sir, you're breathing very loudly."
"MWAaat?"
"People in the cabin are concerned. You seem to be having a hard time breathing."
"Fine I'm fine."
Whatever.
I could have been watching DeJesus and Valbuena get 3 hits apiece.
Or Brett Jackson go 2 for 3, knock in 2, score 2 and walk twice.
Just a freaking win is rare enough.
One with bats finding balls is hard, but a come-from-behinder is impossible.
Since I have jetlag and can't stay awake today and it took me all this time to get to this point in the post, THE CUBS HAVE NOW WON TWO IN A ROW!
Yep, they just beat the Giants 6-4.
Chris Volstad won his second game in a row, Darwin Barney continued his errorless streak and even got a double.
Anthony Rizzo hit a bomb, went 2 for 4, scored twice.
Alfonso Soriano hit a homer, got 3 hits and knocked in 3.
It's August 31st, which means if any team wants to make a deal it's gotta happen by midnight tonight or the players won't be eligible for the playoff roster.
No way Alfonso wakes up and gets on a plane...
Nah.
Okay, write me something for the "WHAT I DID RATHER THAN WATCH THE CUBS COMPETITION" and win a Cubs DVD set!
