Oh yeah...these guys.
With all the focus on Anthony Rizzo and the Trades About To Happen, I kinda forgot about these two.
Starlin Castro represents the Cubs in his second All-Star Game in a row with Bryan LaHair joining him for his first, voted in as a first baseman although no longer playing that position for the Cubs.
Castro seems to be just a steady hit machine and yet hasn't really been a headline grabbing monster this season.
Maybe we're all spoiled and just expect his young excellence.
His fielding - from what I've read from Cubs' management he's gonna play shortstop, period.
Haven't really been hearing the should-he-really-play-second public angst this year.
He had 27 errors in 123 games in '10, 29 in 158 in '11, and this year he's got 13 in 85.
He's improving, and along with Darwin Barney he's become half of the "NL's Best Keystone Combo" (says Wittenmeyer at the Sun Times).
Bryan LaHair's story is just way more unlikely.
Voted in by the players because of his amazing start, he's cooled somewhat and management sits him vs lefties so much that if you go try to search his OPS online, he's not "qualified" because he doesn't have enough at-bats.
Guy can't get any respect except from his peers.
Wouldn't it be awesome if he does something super-human tonight?
I forgot to mention this yesterday, but please go here and "Go To Bat For Charity" with State Farm. Here are some videos to show where your help goes.
As I told you last year, my agency (DDB Chicago) has the State Farm account.
A couple guys who I won't name because they're GIANT JERKS AND DIDN'T INVITE ME TO THE SHOOT did a spot with Kerry Wood and Andre Dawson that just got posted on You Tube yesterday.
I'm so jealous I could spit.
Lastly... sorry to get all advertising on you, but I'm also putting up this spot DDB did for Temptations (Whiskas) cat treats because it's just flat out hilarious.
