What a day for Alfonso Soriano.
4 for 4, 3 runs scored, 5 RBIs, 2 doubles and two homers as the Cubs beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first game after the All-Star break 8 to 1.
Soriano says in the TRIBUNE: "I feel very good, my mind and body, too. To have success, it's all about my legs. The last month or two mh legs are feeling very good."
Thus the Alfonso as James Brown illustration for today (you'll just have to imagine the "I feel good" song playing).
So, just for chatter's sake it's kinda interesting that Buster Olney would tweet: "Alfonso Soriano would be an interesting get for the Rays if the Cubs ate about 90 percent of the money owed to him." while Bruce Levine says the Cubs should keep him around to protect the young Cub bats.
I'm pretty much in the Olney camp.
Today's game is only an hour away, and it might be Ryan Dempster's final performance as a Cub. Unless he just gets rented to a contender, wins a World Series, and then comes back but that's SO unlikely.
And if I didn't have to work I'd be at Wrigley today to see it, and also because it looks gorgeous out.
Go Cubs.
