I didn't know til I was driving in this morning that Matt Cain tossed a perfect game last night.
Against the Houston Astros.
Plus, Cain had 14 strike-outs.
There's all kindsa talk on Mike and Mike this morning about who had the better performance - Matt Cain or... Kerry Wood with his 20 strike out one hitter.
Against the Houston Astros.
Ha!
Haven't been able to make fun of the Astros all year.
Feels kinda good.
I think they ended up with Kerry Wood having the more dominant performance, and once again we can thank 3rd baseman Kevin Orie and his metal glove for that one stupid hit by Ricky Gutierrez in Wood's masterpiece.
As for our favoriite team, wellllll...not so good.
Matt Garza was sailing along til Melky Cabrera hit a routine double play ball to Joe Mather, last night's errorist.
I was looking at Twitter during the game which is actually kinda fun, and Tim McGinnis from Obstructed View said this: "Joe Mather is quickly turning into a tall Aaron Miles."
Once in awhile a truly funny tweet happens.
(Miles retired, btw)
Unfortunately, it wasn't so funny for Mr. Garza, who promptly fell apart as the Tigers scored 4 that inning and took the lead for good.
And then came Manny Corpas who gave up a homer, and then Jairo Asencio (who?) let a couple more in.
Tigers 8 Cubs 4.
And today it's AL God Justin Verlander taking on young Travis Wood.
Day game.
Not alot of, uh, hope for this one.
