Lord knows, that was one crazy game last night.
David DeJesus played like a god, parting the waters with his grand slam, triple, and some amazing plays in right.
But in the end, and by that I mean midnight after about a hundred innings (well okay, 13), the Cubs just weren't able to turn water into wine.
I was a believer throughout, though.
In fact, I believe the Cubs went through every pitcher including Carlos Marmol who did something to his hammy (and I bet goes on the DL and is replaced by...Scott Maine?), finally having to go with a clearly out of control Lendy Castillo who promptly plunked both Ricky Weeks and the Milwaukee Devil Ryan Braun. Then, that Judas Aramis Ramirez (who had a chance early for his own grand slam but instead GIDP'd) hit a single, followed by Corey Hart's guided by angels grounder past the pull-shifted Cubs' infield to win it.
In a game filled with resurrections, it would have been a divine miracle to get out of that jam with nobody out and Lendy being as shakey as he was.
So, kind of a shame the way it ended.
Probably Dale Sveum was reaching for his bible, but grabbed "The Cubs' Way" handbook instead.
Brewers 8, Cubs 7.
Oh well, I'm keeping the faith, praise DeJesus.
