This one time my brother was walking back from lunch with another guy in downtown Chicago.
They'd gone to the Billygoat for a double cheese, and were walking out of that underground area where the Goat is located.
It's about 1:30 in the afternoon.
On the street, Grog (that's his name - long story) sees this thing.
It was filthy, and appeared to be made of cloth or...fur?
"What the hell is that?" he says.
The other guy goes, "Man, I don't know what the hell that thing is."
So Grog picks up a stick to poke at it, because he's like that.
Suddenly, he sees an eye open.
The other guy goes, "What the hell?"
It unfolded like a little special effect, and it turned out to be a bat.
And like a little thing from hell, it bared it's little bat teeth and flapped it's little bat wings and flew up at my brother's head.
They ran away, of course, and nothing bad happened.
But that's exactly what this season seems to be.
It's laying there, and you're not sure what the hell it is.
Is it alive?
Is it scary?
Good scary or bad scary?
In a couple days, we'll all get to poke it with a stick.
