Awhile back, I was on Twitter.
Yeah, I do that.
Julie DiCaro (used to have A League Of Her Own blog and now is president and CEO of AERYS SPORTS) had twittered something about Cubs' first basemen prospects and a top ten list.
Can't remember exactly what she tweeted, but it was funny and intimated that she was shocked that there were two Cubs on the same top ten list.
Even I know that doesn't happen, maybe ever.
I clicked on the link and ended up at MLB.com and this article by Jonathan Mayo.
Now, we all figure Anthony Rizzo's a pretty big time prospect, right?
We'll see him on the big club this summer for sure.
He was #1 on this 1st basemen list.
And down at #10 is...Dan Vogelbach.
Fogelberg?
No.
With a "V" and a "bach", probably he can't sing.
He was the Cubs #2 pick last June, and signed in August for $1.6 millllllion dollars.
(I guess that means Jim Hendry did some good before his departure.)
Big lefty hittin' homer guy, and big big guy as in Prince Fielder big guy, who is the guy most people are comparing him to.
But look at this:
Hmmm. Do you believe in reincarna...nevermind.
Anyway, if I try to think like Theo, then Dan gets signed for not too much early on, he plays as a Cub for about 5 - 7 years, then the year before his contract is up and he becomes a short term asset, Theo makes some awesome kind of trade and Dan heads to the AL and the Cubs get a starter.
Rizzo had moved to third or something.
What?
Hey don't ask me, man.
I don't know.
Whatever happens, right now the only other Cub on any of these top ten lists is Brett Jackson.
Look at this top 100 prospects thing, it's awesome.
So...probably you already knew about Dan since maybe August.
Now I do too.
Lastly, Twitter.
That Ozzie quote in the gif?
Right off his Twitter feed.
He is one Angry Miamian, that Ozzie.
And thanks to Keegan, Lauren, Piage, Wyatt, Ian, Claire, Nicolette and Will for not knowing who Dan Vogelbach is and letting me put you in that gif!
