We were at a soccer bar called The Globe Pub on Irving.
Flynn came up from St. Louis and brought some of his friends who, not surprisingly, were hoping that the Blues would beat the Blackhawks in yesterday morning's game.
And for most of the time, they were pretty comfortable since the Blues had that one goal lead for most of the game.
Until the 3rd with the Duncan Keith slapshot to tie, and then Dave Bolland's incredible bank shot off St. Louis center David Backes.
Yeah, you can read around and find quotes from Bolland saying he was just trying to pass it to Patrick Kane, but we know the truth, Dave.
Wink.
Wink.
Seriously fabulous shot, and I think in the replays from that one angle we can read your lips saying, "Off Backes and into the net."
The St. Louis guys were pretty good until the end when the skirmishes broke out and then one of them (Nathan?) yelled "I HATE THE BLACKHAWKS".
And The Globe - hadn't been before.
Soccer bar with fabulous imports on tap (Old Speckled Hen!) and a ton of tvs.
Great place to watch a Hawk victory, and fourth place Chicago gets win #3 in a row, beating second place St. Louis 3-1.
Okay, the Cubs.
How awesome was it to get the paper this morning and read a story that came from a place where there's green grass instead of a conference room?
I haven't been able to get my head wrapped around baseball starting and I couldn't figure out why.
Yes, I know the Cubs are in the earliest stages of their "building", and shouldn't win much next year.
So the hope thing isn't really around, but that's not it.
I was throwing a ball with the dogs out front when the ball went in the "garden".
I'm picking it up and...what the hell is THAT?
It's a crocus - a little flower. The one that usually comes up first.
But it's freaking FEBRUARY.
The night before I made ribs out back and didn't even have a jacket on.
And right now I'm throwing the ball with the dogs and there's no snow to be seen, it's sunny and kinda...nice out.
And that's what it is.
This winter hasn't really been a winter at all, has it?
It still feels like October out.
In my head, we haven't even had winter yet, so how could spring training be happening already?
Yeah, whatever.
But that's it.
