Maybe it's the fact that everything I brought on this trip - all my hats and t-shirts at least - have a Cubs logo on them.
Do you think that's bad luck?
Because I'll fish in my boxers if that's what it takes to land a stupid freaking musky!
Believe it or not, my boxers do not have Cubs logos on them.
I've fished surface lures, deep runners, black ones, gold ones, natural ones, wooden ones, rubber ones, cheap ones, expensive ones, in the coves, on the points, off every inch of water that looks like a fish might be in it.
I've switched beers, poles, flip flops and shorts for luck.
I've fished sunny and hot, rainy and cold, early and late, even during vacation cocktail hour.
I'm doing the "figure 8" finish to all my casts, which means if the fish was still thinking about biting the lure, and you just wiggle it around the boat at the end of your cast rather than reeling it straight in, maybe he (or she) will hit the lure 2 feet from the boat.
I'd have a heart attack if that happened, so kinda hoping it bites over there, next to the shore.
Anyway, still the same story - no musky for me.
Oh well, at least the Cubs are searching for a new GM.
Did you see what Brian Sabean did with the struggling Giants?
Aaron Rowand ($12 mil this year) and Miguel Tejada ($6.5 mil this year) have been DFA'd (designated for assignment).
They're supposed to be contributing, judging from their contracts, and yet Sabean just gave 'em the boot because they're playing like crap.
I find that exciting.
And I look forward to what moves our new GM might make in a similar situation.
Here's what it looked like this morning about 5:30:
Kinda cool, right?
