This is a really mean illustrated gif, and I hate to do this to one of our own.
But for the 3rd time this season, Carlos Marmol walked three dudes during his late innings stint.
And then yesterday capped it off with a wild pitch to allow the winning run to score.
That was preceded by a Matt Holliday single, and then the 3 walks including one to Ryan Theriot to drive in the tying run.
Galling.
Anyway, not saying the Cubs should try to trade him or anything like that.
He goes to another team?
I swear to God he'll turn into Mariano and set all kindsa freaking records and we'll hate ourselves.
No, remember the year before he set that strike-out record for relievers?
He had 138 in 77 2/3 innings, which averages to 16 strikeouts per 9 innings, which is sort of impossible.
Well, this year I think his velocity was down, but mostly it seems like everybody waits to make sure he's throwing it over the plate.
If Carlos is off, batters just wait for the walk.
They weren't doing that so much in '10, they figured it out this year, and so Carlos just has to figure that out.
Throw strikes.
Lotsa people might think that with the wild delivery, maybe that's not possible.
Can't tell you how many times I've hear professional announcers on ESPN say, "He has no idea where the ball is going", when they see Carlos pitch.
Anyway, no biggie it just would be sweet to knock the Cards out and a shame to just hand them the W like that.
And besides that, nothing matters but the Bears.
