This started at the end of last football season, when the Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers and allowed them to become the wild card.
Last week, the Cubs had the St. Louis Cardinals by the throat in game 2 of their last series together, and... well you remember the Carlos Marmol meltdown.
One more loss for the Redbirds and they wouldn't be dancing in the streets in St. Louis like they were last night.
Now the Cardinals are playing for a championship.
Ouch.
I got a text from Sutter last night telling me to turn on my tv.
I only saw about 5 minutes last night, but it was absolute baseball history with Atlanta losing, the Red Sox losing, and the Tampa Bay Rays winning.
In those 5 minutes the Cardinals and the Rays overcame impossible odds to become wild card teams.
Jaw-dropping.
You guys know I'm crazy with work so I can't dwell, but damn last night was one amazing night of baseball.
And somebody tell Bud Selig he ought to add a couple more wild card teams to the playoff system because I mean REALLY, baseball is so boring as it is right now...
