Oh man.
This isn't merely "have your cake and eat it too".
And it isn't just take the best thing ever of all time and double it.
Because there's something fabulously exponential in the anticipation of a weekend that includes the Chicago Cubs playing the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears playing the Green Bay Packers.
Seriously, say that out loud right now.
Feels pretty good.
The Sports Gods have given us a gift, right?
I mean, given the skill of whoever the goofs are that make baseball schedules this couldn't possibly have been done on purpose.
Right now I'm allowing myself to wallow in the possibilities of dragging the Cardinals and their unlikely hopes of playoff dreams right down into the Cub Gutter.
I am envisioning an exceptionally unpleasant Brian Urlacher and an entire Bears defense focusing like a magnifying glass on that scary Packer offense.
One early victory over Green Bay can change all the expectations for an entire winter.
So, kind of fun and lighthearted with the Cubs - should the Cards win well, so be it.
The Cubs are about to morph into something else anyway.
The Bears/Pack on the other hand, that's pretty serious stuff there.
The doctor's either gonna say, "The X-rays came out negative!" or he'll say, "I'd like you to meet Father Murphy..."
But lets not get ahead of ourselves.
Right now please join me in city-wide salivation at the prospect of sports glory all. weekend. long.
Also:
It's the last day to put a bid in on the WriteGirl auction, with an original Wrigley Field pastel available for a really good cause!
