Don't know about you, but I'll always like Derrek Lee.
He's a Pittsburgh Pirate now, and I do know about you when it comes to those guys: for GOD'S SAKE CAN THE CUBS PLEASE JUST BEAT THE FREAKING PIRATES?
Last night was just about perfect, since I kinda wanted D Lee to do well in his first game with his new team.
While still losing.
So...nice!
Derrek Lee hits a couple homers while our Chicago Cubs win a second game in a row, this one 5-3.
Carlos Zambrano was okay - has anybody seen him get over 92 mph in like, the last year?
I haven't.
Did you see him in the dugout after the game, though?
It looked like the Cubs were...having fun.
Weird.
But WAY better than not, right?
Okay, now you have to pay attention.
State Farm has an awesome thing called State Farm's Go To Bat for charity, and it's exactly what it says: a chance for you to go to bat for your favorite charity.
And the super cool side thingy (besides that good feeling you get by helping a charity) is that by playing, you have a chance at winning some tickets to the World Series!
Yeah, probably not the Cubs, but still.
It's simple to do, even I did it.
Go to the site, register, and then play - it's like an old school pinball game with a baseball bat, and you sort of aim for the ramps to get a homer.
I got 5 out of 10 on my first try, and you can share it on Facebook if you want.
The way I found out about this was kind of funny because a reader sent me this information not knowing our agency does State Farm's advertising.
And as usual I'm kind of a boob for not knowing about it, so don't tell anyone, okay?
Tonight it's up to Randy Wells to get us another 3-game winning streak.
Go Cubs.
