Well, it was okay for awhile there.
My daughter took me to Wrigley for Father's Day.
Gorgeous night, crowded park, the Yankees... and their fans.
We were sitting in Yankee Central, in the middle of all that "Lets Go Yankees" crap.
Wells starts off by giving up the homer to Gardner.
I was at that Cardinal game last May where he gave up about 30 runs before being yanked in the first inning, so I was totally prepared for immediate disaster.
Didn't happen.
In the bottom Reed Johnson doubled, Castro smacks a fly to center, and then Baker grounded him in from 3rd.
Tie game.
Then Soriano hits the big 3 run homer in the 3rd, and I remember thinking, "Maybe we should leave now."
Wells was taking, ohhhh about 20 minutes between pitches and just did not seem to have any confidence at all.
Top of the 4th the Yanks got 2 more, and another to tie it in the 6th.
Then the 8th..."LETS GO YANKEES LETS GO YANKEES"
Nick Swisher hit a gigantic homer with 2 guys on.
Cheering all around.
The dad in front of us sitting next to his two sons showed some bad form with a no-look double bird to the crowd behind us.
We left then, walking from right to left field along the top, still watching.
Big fight somewhere below us, and by the time we got down the ramps security blocked our way so they could take the guilty parties to the security waiting room, where I'm sure they hung out til the cops came.
Luckily, we missed the horrid Cubs outfield play which would have made me insane, so that was good.
Got home, had an ice cream bar.
Tonight, Big Z vs. Gavin Floyd, Cubs vs Sox, 5th place vs 3rd place, 29/42 vs 35/38.
