What an awesome game last night.
The Giants beat the Phils 3-2 in a marathon, and now they get to go try to be World Series Champs.
I have no idea really, but I have to think the Giants' odds of getting to this point were in the same ballpark as the Cubs at the start of this season: nil.
Totally gotta pull for these guys.
It started off not so good for San Francisco. Philadelphia is an intimidating place to begin with, and Giant starter Jonathan Sanchez walks a couple, gives up a couple runs, and finally hits Chase Utley in the third.
Chase and Jon yell at each other and a "fight" breaks out with lots of dudes holding back other dudes and lookin' like tough dudes do. Luckily nobody threw a punch 'cause that woulda been sooo stupid.
And then the Giants' bullpen, including Tim Lincecum, came in and shut the Phils down for the rest of the night.
The homer Juan Uribe hit kind of summed up these Giant guys. Ryan Madson was relieving for the Phils, and he'd been automatic this whole post season - a couple hits but 11 Ks and no runs. And he threw a mistake slider on the first pitch.
Boom.
Now the mistake slider - you wouldn't exactly say luck, right?
I think it's mojo, and the Giants got it good right now.
The last Phllie 6 outs took about a month, but finally Ryan Howard watched a low 3-2 fastball (I think) go right over the middle of the plate.
Pop open the sham pag nee.
You know what would be awesome?
If general managers were allowed to run onto the field and re-negotiate contracts right when their big money guys gag in the playoffs.
"Ryan Howard, please sign this revised contract and lose half your salary for sucking in the playoffs."
You know what else would be awesome?
If I was watching the Bears game at Soldier Field instead of workin' in the office, lookin' out my window at Soldier Field.
