Yes, I know the Padres were one of the exciting stories in baseball this year - the no money, the low payroll, the new gm, the surprising success... all that.
In other words, they were precisely one of the reasons we began to dislike the Cubs this season - the team with the fattest payroll in the NL.
Since their re-birth when Quade took over (yeah, I know, did the manager matter or not?) however, I think we've all come around to liking the team again. Alot. They seem to be trying harder, the bullpen is way better, guys seem like they're having fun while fighting for jobs.
What's the matter with me?
I seem to be rationalizing doing a mean spirited illustration pointed at a team I don't like anyway.
So HEY SAN DIEGO: NA NA NA NAAAAAA NA.
I hope the Giants crush you immediately.
Last night was super cool because yet another kid, a guy who might not be starting at all if not for injuries to Kid Colvin and Kosuke Fukudome, was the star of last night's game.
Rookie Brad Snyder made a pretty spectacular diving catch on a sinking liner, and then in the top of the 9th with no runs for either team on the board, he drove in the winning run with a defensive little boink grounder between short and third!
Quade could do no wrong either.
The inning started with Aramis getting a single. Quade puts in Darwin Barney to pinch run. Xavier Nady (what?) lays down the sac bunt, Barney to 2nd. Then Snyder's hit.
In comes Marmol.
Game over.
Awesome.
The sad clown of life has a little fun in San Diego, probably due to the amount of cold medication I've been taking.
Still way under the weather, but I have to remind you agian: DON'T FORGET TO ENTER TO WIN AN ORIGINAL CUBBY BLUE PAINTING.
