It was late, okay?
I had this idea for a joke, and then it didn't make any sense.
Something really convoluted about San Francisco Bay "Runs" vs. Bay Rum or something.
So let us examine the painting. Note the interest the medium adds - how when watercolor is applied very wet and dries in small areas to create the harder edges of... oh wait.
I forgot about baseball.
I was driving home listening on the radio about 8 when Lincecum had his hiccup. He walked a guy and hit a guy. You just can't do that. And then came the "weird" play. Roy Halliday bunted and didn't run to first. The announcers were all, "That was the WEIRDEST PLAY. Halliday bunted FAIR and DIDN'T RUN!" And there was an attempt at a tag at third but Victorino was safe. Then 3Bman Sandoval noticed Halliday was still miles from first and threw him out.
Anyway, I shall assume that by then Halliday had his groin pulled and just couldn't really run.
The Phillies scored all they needed that inning with the 3 runs.
Halliday goes 6 and gave up 2 runs. Contreras, Romero, Madson (FREAKY sidearmer), and Lidge shut the Giants out the rest of the way.
Jason Werth (nice hair, dude) hits a 9th inning homer for the icing.
Mikey Fontenot looked lost swinging above the inside slider.
And now the Giants gotta go to Philadelphia and face ex-IHTA Roy Oswalt.
Come ON GIANTS! Even the Cubs could beat Oswalt.
Lastly, remember how Chase Utley got the yips last year with the bad throws?
He duffed a grounder last night, and just looks nervous on the field. Like too much caffeine or something. He speared a liner where he jumped straight up on a ball that was way to his right - I mean he got it but only barely.
Okay, Bay Rum.
If you've never tried it or heard of it, it's the BEST aftershave ever.
It's man stuff.
Nowhere on the label will you find the words "for sensitive skin".
Way back in time, I was in Jamaica with a group of people. Got a bad sunburn.
A local guy told me about bay rum, which I found for sale in somebody's hut down the dirt path. Came in a clear bottle with no label or anything. Guy said, "Good for sunburn, good for fever, good for shaving, good for anyting, mon."
Later, I would find the above product, Dominica Imported Bay Rum, in the J. Peterman catalogue. Remeber? Greatest catalogue ever? Made famous on "Seinfeld"? Anyway, my wife buys me a case of it every couple years online - don't know where because the catalogue is long gone.
But you splash it on. It stings for real. It smells great and then the best part: it goes away.
