When Big Z self destructed and Tom Gorzelanny took his place in the rotation, I thought the perfect new nickname for Gorzelanny would be "Big G". And when I said it out loud I heard another voice in my head from waaaay back. It was driving me crazy 'cause I couldn't remember what it was...
Turned out to be a slogan from Cheerios.
Absolutely brilliant (in a 60's way) because they took the General Mills logo (a big G) and made it into a kind of action tag.
So the logo comes on, then an "o". The anncr says, "Big G. Little o. Go! with Cheerios."
It's at the back of this spot, which has the added bonus of starring The Munsters.
So anyway, Big G was awesome yesterday going 6 innings and giving up 7 hits with 3 runs in the Cubs 6-5 victory over the Cardinals. For the second game in a row, Tyler Colvin leads off with homer! Plus he scores twice. .308 hitting Starlin Castro got a homer, went 3 for 4 and scored twice too.
And at the end it was Carlos Marmol striking out Aaron Miles, John Jay, walking Pujols, and getting Matt Holliday to pop out.
Andrew Cashner went 2 innings, went through the meat of the Cardinal line-up, went through an absolutely horrendous easy double play that didn't happen because of the E on Theriot, and... kept his cool.
Wow.
So maybe there's a t-shirt idea somewhere in this post for Big G. Or a slogan for him at least.
