I will take any Cub victory, any Cub time, any Cub way - even if it takes 7 Cub pitchers (otherwise known as Ted CashMarshMolGraHowLanny).
Ted Lilly starts and goes 6 giving up one dinky run.
Andrew Cashner comes in for 2 and gives up one as well.
Then Sean Marshall, Carlos Marmol, John Grabow, Bob Howry and Tom Gorzelanny team up for the last 12 outs, Grabow with the W and Gorzy with his first save.
I gotta give credit where it's due, because I did say "Bob Howry" in there - he got 2 important outs in the 13th.
And the bats!
Well, lets not put an exclamation point behind that word...
And the bats.
The Cubs needed just 36 outs to get 6 hits, and 3 of them knocked in runs (okay, Fontenot's was a sac fly). And thanks to Ted CashMarshMolGraHowLanny, that was enough for the win.
Final score Cubs 3 Mariners 2.
Now it's back to Chicago's South Side to play the hottest team in baseball, the freaking White Sox.
Yeesh.
Anyway, if you know anybody who might want a REALLY rare baseball card, have 'em send me an email.
I would totally trade this thing for ohhhhhh, say maybe 3 wins this weekend.
