Something bad is happening to me.
Last week I was at Wrigley and after the singing of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", I did that thing that Harry used to do. As loud as I could I yelled, "LETS SCORE SOME POINTS!"
And this woman next to me says, "You know, in baseball they don't score points. They score uh...umm. It isn't goals it's ummm..."
Kind of embarrassing, neither of us could remember.
I think because it's been so long since the Cubs were able to do...that thing where a guy touches home plate? Remember those things?
What the hell are they called?
Anyway, the Cubs were playing Pittsburgh yesterday, and Pirate reliever Joel Hanrahan came in in the 8th and the Cubs couldn't even get any umm.... Any... of those...
Oh crap! You know - where they swing the bat and the bat connects with the ball. It's not a "knock" or a "jab" or... it means "to strike"...
Wow.
Totally drawing a blank here.
Lets just say the Cubs couldn't get on base against Hanrahan (and his 5.4 ERA).
Ted Lilly pitched pretty good.
He gave up a... score thingy early, and then later Neil Walker did that bat swing thing and the ball went out of the park. Since Andrew McCutchen was already on base, it scored 2 um, tallies.
And the Cubs couldn't overcome the Pirates one uhhhhh. This is so annoying!
Why can I not remember what those things are called?
Uhh, the Cubs couldn't overcome the Pirates one plate-touchie lead.
Final score Cubs 2, Pirates 3.
